Bonus Blog Part 2: The Fulfillment or Happiness Spend
I’d like to focus on part two of my three-part series on bonus dollars. Depending on your financial situation, and bonus amount, there may not be much leftover for the happiness or fulfillment categories. While financial security is important, so is fulfillment. Therefore, with those remaining dollars, let’s talk about ways I’ve seen individuals spend their bonus to increase their happiness.
Bonus Blog Part 1: The Practical
A new year is upon us and you know what that means? Bonus time! I’ve found most of my clients get their big cash infusion somewhere between January and March. In many cases, these bonuses (from the hard work you and your team have done) can lead to a significant amount of dollars.
The Fulfillment Challenge
As lifelong financial coaches, it’s incumbent upon us to take our financial conversations to a higher level. Higher than assets and liabilities.

Stages of Retirement: Go-Go, Slow-Go, and No-Go
The average couple retires in their 60s and lives until their 90s. With that in mind, there is said to be three stages of retirement. The go-go years, the slow-go years and the no-go years. Let’s take a few moments and understand these stages and what it means to you or your loved ones.
The 10 Big Retirement Mistakes to Avoid
“What are the biggest retirement mistakes you see people make?”
A client asked me the above question a few weeks ago. It was a great question and forced me to take a minute to give him a well thought out answer. After a moment I said, “Mr. Client here are the ten biggest retirement mistakes I see individuals make.”
Finding your Passion: A Critical Financial Planning Component
The other day I had a conversation with Jay, the Operations Lead here at Diversified. I enjoyed the conversation as he excitedly told me about getting back into creative writing on the weekends. As he described his process and the new writing group he joined, he perked right up. I could see his entire demeanor change. In fact, Jay was telling me about something in which he had a deep rooted love. As the conversation continued, I started getting excited for him and somewhat envious, too. What he did, without realizing it, was describe his passion to me.
My 3 Financial Guilty Pleasures
In my business you get a real unique perspective on how people view things. Especially when it comes to money and finances. One of the often funny things I get to witness is people’s financial quirks. The things that each of us do that makes us financially funny in a way. For some people it is how they track every last expense. For others it may be how close they are to a magic investment number like a million dollars.
The Life Lesson Learned from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
I’ve written about the struggles of taking “real” vacations many times. Unfortunately, I have many clients who seem afraid to take a vacation. These individuals never decompress and thus make themselves miserable. Much of the show’s second season is filmed in the Catskills. Back then families vacationed together for the entire summer. Often, they’d rent a cabin (think Dirty Dancing style) for the season where there’d be dances and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Most importantly, they’d relax for an entire three months a year. (Crazy, right?)
How to Achieve The Perfect Retirement
In the business of financial planning, I see clients (and friends) live happy, successful retirements. Others, sadly do not fulfill their retirement destiny. That’s why I decided to write a blog about the secret elixir. It’s something I generated through the perspective of clients who I feel have the “perfect” retirement lifestyle.
