Worth The Moolah! 2024 Edition
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens, brown paper packages tied up with strings…. These are a few of my favorite things! That is right folks, the time you have all been waiting for, my annual Worth the Moolah blog where I list all of my favorite items that I’ve carefully curated over the past year. This is a totally fun blog, and feel free to send me some of your favorite items or heck feel free to disagree. But in any event, I’ve found people like this blog so here goes nothing, as I try to make Julie Andrews proud.
2024 Worth the Moolah:
Apple Pay- OK I’m starting off with a super easy, and completely free item to kick things off. For those iPhone users, Apple Pay has changed my life. Like seriously changed my life. For those who don’t know, you can load whatever credit cards you want into your iPhone’s Apple Pay account. From there anytime you go to pay for something with a credit card you simply double-click your side button and hold your electric card to any card reader and BAM! No more need to even carry a wallet anymore. Can you say game changer!
CLEAR– CLEAR is the next and newest wave of skip-the-line security. For airports that have CLEAR, which Philly currently does not, it is TSA precheck on steroids. You are through the security line in literally a minute and with ease. Here is what is even better, sports stadiums are starting to have CLEAR lines as well, as recently I took the family to the Yankees game (I was there to give them a curse) and my entire extended family (12 of us) cruised through the CLEAR line rather than wait 20 minutes to get in the stadium.
Hotel Laundry– This one is a complete splurge and certainly unnecessary. That said, recently I’ve discovered this amazing service. When on vacation and you are already splurging, see what the cost is for the hotel to do some or all your laundry. You can either pack much lighter, and do overhead luggage, or you can come home from a nice long vacation and literally not have to do a stitch of laundry. Splurge=yes, worth it=hell yes.
Tumi Travel Backpack– Put this item fully in the luxury item category, but again worth the money. I do a bit of traveling for work and pleasure. A good carry-on backpack is something I’ve been searching forever to find. It’s especially important since I refuse to do anything but carry on. I discovered the Tumi backpack a little while ago and man do I love this thing. A pocket for everything, a clip for my keys, and I’ve even taken some sojourns and used it as my only form of luggage. I’m a fan and you know what they say about luggage, I’ll have this thing for the rest of my life.
Yeti water bottle– I pretty much love anything Yeti puts out from coolers to water bottles. However, as a family of 5, we have seemingly thousands of water bottles in our house. My clear-cut favorite is the Yeti Rambler water bottle. You can see me go just about anywhere with it and not only does it keep everything cold for me, but it also has the best waterspout on the market. Two massive thumbs up from this guy.
Jambys– This one I’m certain I’ll catch a lot of flack for, but what the heck you only live once. I’m a boxer and t-shirt kind of guy when it comes to my bedtime attire. Over the past year, I got hooked on this company called Jambys. They make these amazing boxers with pockets and bedtime T-shirts. I may look like I could hop in bed with the old parents in Willy Wonka, but comfort is king, and you too can thank me later.
The Mill– Probably my favorite new acquisition comes courtesy of my wife and middle child Isabella. The Mill is absolutely a game changer. It is an in-home composter like none other. It is sleek-looking, and basically a big trashcan for food waste. Every night it runs automatically and turns whatever food is leftovers into perfectly grounded compost. Once the bucket is full you dump it into a bag and when that is full you ship it to a farm that turns it all into chicken feed. Oh, and absolutely no smell at all. Not cheap per se but I guess that is the cost of saving our environment.
Italic Towels– I hate wimpy bath towels and never can seemingly find a good set I like. Well, that is until I discovered the Italic bath towel. These things are gargantuan and super plush. The only issue I have is my daughters constantly steal them, so I usually am fighting to get my own towels back.
Professional Organizer– I have 3 kids, 2 dogs, and 1 wife. On top of all that our house is the “hangout” house for our children and their friends. Needless to say, we have accumulated an abundance of “stuff” over the years. That stuff all finds its way into a closet or drawer making life ever more challenging. Leave it to my 1 wife to find an expensive solution. Through a friend, she found this organizer lady. She was fantastic and came into our house tackling area by area. The biggest hurdle now is keeping things as amazing as she left them.
Plow Guy– Slap this one in the duh no-brainer category. Our driveway is steep and a pain in the ass to plow or shovel. Also, I am in my forties and candidly over going outside for hours in the freezing cold to shovel/plow. I simply hate it! The solution is quite simple as I have a plow guy who automatically comes every time it snows and bim bam boom takes his truck and plows my entire driveway in minutes, which would take me hours. Not only that he charges like $50 a plow and let me tell you I’d pay like 10x that to not have to break my back doing it.
Big Finish Julie
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things.
Hope you got some good items out of it and love to hear some of yours as well. As always stay wealthy, healthy, and happy.
