Diversified's Pro Bono
Planning Services
Our commitment to the communities we serve and the profession we love.
Pro Bono Planning
We’re proud to make financial planning available to people who need it — not as a marketing program, but as an expression of what we believe good financial planning firms should do. In professions built to last — medicine, law — service beyond the paying client is a defining pillar. We believe financial planning should be no different.
Our advisors volunteer their time and expertise in structured, meaningful engagements, in three forms: one-to-many financial literacy education, one-on-one client mentoring through nonprofit partners, and hands-on community involvement through board and volunteer service. No fees. No strings. Just excellent planning, extended further.
What It Is
Diversified Pro Bono Planning Services is our firm’s commitment to making financial planning available to people who need it. Engagements are structured, time-limited, and led by CFP® professionals — covering budgeting, debt, savings, insurance basics, and goal-setting. Aligned with the Foundation for Financial Planning and CFP Board’s Pro Bono Standards, this work reflects the same rigor and care we bring to every client relationship, extended to those who wouldn’t otherwise have access to it.
Engagements fall into three categories:
- Financial literacy education — one-to-many webinars for nonprofit and community partners
- One-on-one mentoring — structured, time-limited guidance matched through nonprofit partner organizations
- Community involvement — board service and volunteer work supporting the organizations we partner with
Who It Serves
These engagements are open to individuals and families who could benefit from professional financial guidance but don’t have access to it — whether due to cost, circumstance, or simply not knowing where to turn. Engagements are conducted through vetted nonprofit and community partners, under guidelines reviewed by our advisory board to keep the scope clearly within financial planning services.
Leading by Example
With nine offices across the country, Diversified Pro Bono Planning Services is led day-to-day by John Anderson, CFP®, Diversified Financial Advisor.
"I've always believed great financial planning should reach beyond wealth. When I brought this idea to this firm, they backed it. I'm proud to lead Planning with Purpose and proud of this work." — John Anderson, Program Lead, Planning with Purpose
Value in Pro Bono
Firm leadership sees the same value John does — for the clients this work reaches, and for the advisors who take part.
"Planning with Purpose reflects something we believe deeply — expertise carries a responsibility beyond our existing clients. Supporting advisors who want to give back is good leadership." — Andrew Rosen, Executive Chairman, Diversified
Becoming Better Advisors
"When our advisors do pro-bono work, they come back sharper. They've solved real problems with real constraints. That makes us all better planners for every client we serve." — Michael Fisher, CEO, Diversified
A Commitment We Intend to Keep
Diversified advisors are actively bringing this to life across our communities — financial literacy education for nonprofit partners, one-on-one mentoring matched through organizations serving people in transition, and advisors giving their time on nonprofit boards. We’re building this thoughtfully: engagements run through vetted partner organizations, under guidelines reviewed by our advisory board, so the people we serve get the same rigor as any Diversified client.
