AI: The New Frontier

Artificial intelligence has been consuming the news lately.  Literally, every other article I read mentions how AI is going to be this big disrupter.  Now, I am far from an AI, or coding expert, so take this all with a grain of salt.  However, to my core, I believe that AI is going to be the single biggest disrupter in any of our lifetimes!  I mean next-level evolution that most people reading this, including me, can’t even fathom how far-reaching AI will affect.

I’ve poo-pooed cryptocurrency (and still do), and (even stupidly) Covid in the early days so who knows what will transpire.  That said, we have simply scratched the surface of this AI stuff and it is already mind-blowing what it can do. 

What is AI?

Let’s take half a step back for a moment and fully indoctrinate everyone with what artificial intelligence is all about.  Essentially, AI is the ability and simulation of human intelligence by computers.  It is a technology that allows computers to not only simulate human intelligence but learn on their own.  The crazy thing is not only does AI have the entire universe to curate in an instant and learn, but it can also do it at the speed of light.  Furthermore, it is constantly learning to replicate human intelligence and evolution. 

Don’t believe me? Let’s ask ChapGPT, one of the leaders in open AI development.  I asked it a simple question about itself.  I said tell me why AI will be the biggest disruptor in our lifetime and write it like a Beatles song.  Sounds fun right?  Let’s see its answer, which came back in under 20 seconds. 

Verse 1: Oh, artificial intelligence It’s set to change the game In every single industry It’s gonna leave its name

Chorus: AI, oh my, it’s the biggest disruptor of our time AI, oh my, it’s the future we’ll soon find

Now that is a simple and kind of silly use of it, but within this new Beatles hit they mention a few critical applications.  AI will touch everything from self-driving cars to instant medical diagnosis.  It can curate infinite data points in an instant and give you answers without human error. 

Kind of Scary?

If you are having Terminator 2 flashbacks, I don’t blame you as this stuff certainly has amazing features, but also some scary implications.  Will you need musicians, or artists anymore?  Will you need writers or lawyers?  How about engineers or computer programmers?  Literally, AI could disrupt virtually every industry on the planet and that isn’t even an exaggeration. 

Don’t believe me?  Well, Elon Musk and other tech giants are forming a committee to slow down the development of AI in hopes of putting some form of guardrails and regulations around it in hopes of it not getting out of control.  If not contained and the wrong people run this type of technology, it certainly can have unintended consequences. 

My Prediction

For starters, if you want to give it a test ride sign up for ChatGPT it will truly blow your mind.  As the industry figures out how to utilize this for advancement you will see an AI revolution that will blow any other revolution away.  Heck in the future I may not even write my own blogs, just simply tell AI to write a blog on this topic in my voice.  The implications are endless and the effect this will have on the world can’t even be understood at this time.  Trust me when I tell you it is here to stay and you will be reading more about it every single day until you are using it in virtually every single aspect of your life. 

I am not a conspiracy theorist, or easily impressed.  Generally, I think the tides of change move very slowly, however, I’ve seen the light, and believe me when I tell you AI is the next frontier.
